West Calder club open for bowls

ANGELA CONSTANCE set the ball rolling on the new season at West Calder by bowling the first bowl.

She was at the county club on April 16 for the grand opening of the club, which recently underwent a refurbishment, where she admitted her pride at being asked to open the new season.

She said: “I am very honoured to be invited along today and, as a West Calder lass I am touched to be asked back to do this. This club is a fantastic asset to West Calder and I hope you all have a happy and successful season ahead of you.”

Club President, Jim Warnock was quick to thank Constance for taking the time to visit and open the club.

He said: “It is now 122 years since our club was established.

“I would like to welcome everyone today especially our new members and our guest, Angela Constance, who has kindly taken time out of her busy schedule to be with us today.”

The members then went on to play the first competition of the season with the bowlers everyone more than delighted to be back in action again.
