Lee Master of the course with stunning final round

THE Deer Park Masters was won by Craig Lee last week who took the prestigious silverware after a stunning final round of five-under-par 67 for a nine-under 135 to take the crown by three shots from Hayston's Stephen Gray.

Lee, who enjoyed a year on the European Tour, was one stroke off the pace after the first round but he made his move to the front with a four-under outward half, and could even afford the luxury of a bogey on the 18th to take the trophy and the cash prize of £2,772 – which takes his earnings for the season on the domestic circuit to almost £20,000.

Gray was runner-up after a best-of-the-day round of 66 while first-round leader Robert Arnott posted a 72 for 139, and shared third with former Scottish PGA champions Colin Gillies and Greig Hutcheon.

In the team event, Scottish champion David Orr led the Valad Group amateurs of David Lawrence, David Gardiner and Harry Phillips to victory with a 56.
