IT has been another excellent year of sponsorship for the Karma Golf Club across the length and breadth of West Lothian, writes Russell Cameron.
The club is based round the popular Whitburn Indian Restaurant and has been sponsor of the Linlithgowshire Summer League in recent seasons and has committed to continue support into 2010.
They also sponsored the Whitburn Civic Week Band Tent giving encouragement to four aspiring rock bands in the process. And, though sponsorship overall has been hit by the recession, the Scottish Junior Bowling Association Masters Trophy is still the Karma Golf Club Cup.
The guys, too, have had a lot of fun at their three outings, to Carnwath in the spring, Charleton in the summer and autumn at Greenburn.
Top man for the season has been Tommy Hamill who has taken the Order of Merit after success in the Gold Section at both Carnwath and Greenburn.
In the Silver Section David Ross also won two events, at Charleton and Greenburn.
The Silver Trophy at Carnwath went to Ross Alexander while it was Gordon Thomson who took the Gold honour in the next stage at Charleton.
Tommy Hamill was also involved in the club's Match-play final only last month at Gullane 3 where Jack Brown proved just too strong.
The poorest on the day in each section has to wear the gold or the silver skirt and Alex Stein can be seen next to the banner on the left of our picture modelling the gold one with pride.
Just to give Alex some encouragement however is the fact that Gordon Thomson, winner at Charleton plummeted down the rankings at Greenburn and is scheduled to don the dreaded garment in the first outing of the new year.
