Deer Park Masters early scores

THIS week Scotland’s golfing spotlight was shining on Deer Park Golf and Country Club as the Livingston course hosted the Deer Park Masters.

At the end of the first round it was David Patrick sitting a shot clear at the top of the leaderboard following a seven under 65.

Patrick’s excellent round kept him a stroke ahead of Robert Arnott and Lindsay Mann.

He notched a birdie on each of the opening two holes to get off to a flyer.

His hot streak continued at holes five, six and seven where his hat-trick of birdies took his scorecard to five-under.

Patrick breezed through without dropping a shot until the 16th where he suffered a bogey — the only blotch on a stunning first-round scorecard.

However, the Elie pro quickly made amends for it and finished his round with a pair of birdies on the 17th and 18th.

The first team prize was won by Team Indbuild from Kingsfield Golf Club.

The team was made up of: Mark King (professional), Arthur Campbell, Richard Nash and Neil McIntyre.

Other early prize winners were: Amateur nearest pin at the third (hole) - Stuart McPhail; Amateur nearest pin at the 10th - Frank Anderson; Amateur longest drive at the 4th - Peter Smith; and Amateur longest drive at the 17th - Stuart Turnbull.
