Dec 23 2010 West Lothian Courier
AGAINST all the odds and against Jack Frost’s latest icy outburst, there was a little window of respite last Wednesday which allowed the Edinburgh and East of Scotland Alliance guys to leap through and play their latest event at Eyemouth — and surprisingly they got a brilliantly sunny day with no frost.
Even better news was that it was one of West Lothian’s own in the shape of Greenburn pro Scott Catlin who won top spot and the Professionals’ Trophy.
His 69 was four better than anybody else on the day but it was only his superior inward nine which allowed him to win the pot from Falkirk Tryst amateur Ian Wyse (8).
In joint second were another two pros from the West Lothian area, Stuart Callan of Bathgate and Andy Marshall of Houston Driving Range, on the 73 mark along with fellow professional Scott Grieve of Turnhouse and amateur Sean McGarvey of Glencorse.
Lothianburn’s Alex McKenzie (5) took second behind Wyse on 71 net in the handicap section with Stuart Brown (5) of Glencorse picking up third a shot further back.
Amongst the Seniors taking part in the event there was a share of top spot for Bathgate’s Peter Ritchie on 75 net.
In the Order of Merit Scott Catlin is now third, ten points behind leader Chris Morris of Kingsknowe and he’ll be looking to reduce that margin in the next outing at Gullane 3 on January 12 next year.
