THE Paralympics GB team competing in Beijing from September 6 was one of the biggest of all time, with 206 athletes competing in 18 of the 20 Paralympic Sports.
Among them were five athletes from Lothian: Sean Fraser and James Anderson – swimming; Mark Robertson – football; Sam Ingram – judo and Kevin Simpson – tennis.
We hope that young people will be inspired to reach their potential not just in sport as they watched the athletes use their abilities to achieve at the highest level.
Children and young people in West Lothian got involved at school or college by joining in the celebrations around the Paralympic Handover Ceremony on September 17, marking the moment when the Paralympic Flag was handed to the Mayor of London and the countdown to London 2012 begins.
