Athletics: Trio representing county in India

THREE West Lothian athletes are in the Scotland squad competing in the Commonwealth Youth Games in India.

Boxer Robbie McKee (pictured above) from Fauldhouse, and swimmers Iain Scanlon (Shotts) and Megan Gilchrist (Bathgate) are part of the 44-strong squad taking part in the games being held in Pune.

The games, which are taking place between October 11 and October 18, will be the first in which all 71 Commonwealth countries compete. There are 351 medals up for grabs across nine sports.

Robbie won his first light-welterweight bout on Monday when he defeated Zambian Stephen Silungwe on points to set up a quarter-final fight against Canadian Brandt Butt.

Iain was second in his heat for the 50m breaststroke to qualify for the final, where he finished in fifth place.

Megan won her 200m freestyle heat on Wednesday and finished in eighth place in the final.

The athletes are expected to return to Glasgow on October 20.
