Landi admits that October was a trial
ROBERTO Landi admits life as a Livingston fan in October has been as scary as a trip on the ghost train.
The Italian can’t wait to see the back of Hallowe’en after a nightmare month for the Lions.
“I’m delighted October is finished as it wasn’t a good month for us,” revealed Landi.
“We didn’t take a single point and even lost the friendly we played.
“I’m very glad that when we play Morton on Saturday it will be November 1.”
At the turn of the month Livingston led the way at the top of the pile but three defeats in- a-row have seen them slip to third.
But Landi reckons it is normal for a team to hit a period of poor results.
He said: “It is normal in a season to have a dip in results but I hope it is over now. We lost all three games in different circumstances.
“The game against Queen of the South was a bad game for us, we had no strikers for the game against St Johnstone and the game at Clyde shouldn’t have been played.
“We need to carry on concentrating and working hard. If we do we can get the points we need to get back on top.”
Landi insists his side can go on and win the league flag and with it a place in the SPL but only if they bring some new players to Almondvale in the New Year transfer window.
“We are looking for two or three players as well to bolster the squad and I believe if we get them in January and are still in the top two or three places we can win the league,” he insisted.
“We only have 11 or 12 experienced players and that isn’t enough. Most clubs have 18 or 19 experienced players they can call upon.
“An example was last Saturday when I couldn’t really make any changes. We have some excellent young players here at Livingston but we need some with experience.”
The Livi boss also scotched rumours of a switch to an English Championship side and insisted he was at Livingston for the long-haul.
He added: “An English newspaper ran a story a few weeks ago linking me with their club because they have Italian owners.
“The article named me as one of the candidates but there is nothing in it and there have been no offers.”
