LOTHIAN Running Club sprinted across the chalk this weekend and into the record books with a handful of superb results.
The county club had winners at various events all over the country as their week kicked off on Sunday when Edel Mooney led home a record field of 340 runners at the Arbroath Smokies Ladies 10 mile road race.
Edel crossed the line in an excellent time of 61 minutes 7 seconds which was nearly five minutes ahead of the field.
With club mates Saran Jones finishing in 16th (75:11) and Jill Horsburgh 20th (77:23) the Lothian club also took second place in the team event.
Ross Milne made it a St David's Day double for the Lothian club producing a fine performance to triumph in the Lasswade AC 10 mile road race at Roslin.
A total of 406 runners completed the course with Milne being the first back in a good time of (54:08).
And Lothian Running Club’s super siblings the Inglis’ enjoyed a hat-trick of successes with Sarah, Robert and Mhairi all in blistering form in their races.
Sarah was taking a break from her hectic cross-country schedule to contest the Women's 3000 metres at the Scottish Universities Track and Field Championships at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall.
The change of surface failed to deter the 17-year-old who sped round the 15 laps in nine minutes 51 seconds to claim yet another title to add to her already impressive list of successes for the season.
At the same time in an event at Cupar, Fife, her siblings Robert and Mhairi were also recording wins in the Fife AC Cupar five mile road race, with the duo taking the respective male and female under 20 titles.
On an out and back course, Robert came home in seventh place overall (27:11) and first under 20. Mhairi was also first in the under 20 women’s race.
In the same race, Lana Turnbull (34;08) crossed the line in 11th place, third in the under 20 and with the club's only other runner on the day, Marie Storrie 12th (34:18) the Lothian women's team were placed a fine thir in what was a strong competition.
In all 119 runners completed the course.
Brian Turner was the clubs only representative among 114 athletes who contested the Glasgow park run 5k race at Pollok Park on Saturday.
But Brian just failed to make it a sixth Lothian win over the weekend but celebrated a marvellous second place in 16:35.
