FAULDHOUSE Cricket club got their season off to a great start with an away win to Carlton CC in front of a small but supportive crowd in the capital.
It was one of the few matches to be completed as the weekend.
The West Lothian side won the toss and elected to bat on what looked to be a good track.
After the loss of a few early wickets Fauldhouse settled in and at the 30 over mark 102 for the loss of two wickets before a flurry of wickets to the home side saw Fauldhouse slump to 120 for 7 — Z Ali going for a breezy 68.
The Fauldhouse batsman recovered well to finish the innings on 188 due to D Allans hard hitting 42 and young buck J Mildrens enthusiasm.
After tea Fauldhouse opening bowlers gave little away and with runsŠhard to come by Carlton’s wickets came regularly.
D Law was the early destroyer with 3-14 from his ten overs and SŠCockrane proving too quick for the Carlton lower order and finished with four wicketsŠin his spell to end Cartons dayŠall out for 66,Što comlpete a solid team performance.
A great start and plenty of improvement left in the team ahead of this week where it's back to Edinburgh to face Wartsonians.
Fauldhouse seconds also got a great win over Dunbar CC with another club junior Steven Connell scoring a match winning 58.
