THE Scotwaste Monarchs are entering a very busy period and race against title challengers Birmingham Brummies at Armadale Stadium tomorrow (Friday) evening.
The weather which has caused three postponements at Armadale in the past five weeks means that Monarchs have to squeeze eight home matches into the next month, and they have made arrangements to do this on top of heavy away commitments.
The Brummies will be a tough proposition on Friday, kicking off at— start time 7.30pm.
They have Jason Lyons from Australia and Pole Tomasz Piszcz leading their attack, and in danger men Richard Sweetman (Australia) and Ludvig Lindgren (Sweden), two excellent young stars.
They have won a couple of away matches recently and actually drew level with favourites King’s Lynn at the top of the table recently.
Monarchs of course have a revised line-up which is pretty experimental, with Germans Max Dilger and new man Kevin Wölbert. Wölbert has yet to set wheel on track after two rain-offs last weekend, while Dilger hasn’t really been amongst the points in his early matches.
This will throw a good deal of responsibility on Ryan Fisher, Aaron Summers, Matthew Wethers and Michal Rajkowski.
Fisher showed excellent form in winning Glasgow’s Ashfield Classic last Sunday, much to the displeasure of the locals.
Teams for Friday: Scotwaste Monarchs: Ryan Fisher, Michal Rajkowski, Max Dilger, Matthew Wethers (captain), Kevin Wölbert, Aaron Summers, Byron Bekker.
Birmingham BRC Roofing Brummies: Tomasz Piszcz, Rusty Harrison, Ludvig Lindgren, Richard Sweetman, Jason Lyons, Jay Herne, Lee Smart.
Monarchs also race away at Workington (Saturday), Newcastle (Sunday), Redcar (Monday) – showing live on Sky TV – and Birmingham (Wednesday).
