AT the end of a very busy week, the Scotwaste Monarchs face a big Scottish derby against the Glasgow Tigers at Armadale Stadium tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Glasgow have turned their season round recently with the signing of William Lawson and they have stated that they expect to win on Friday.
Monarchs have not lost a home match for two years but are in something of a transitional period, though they have one big plus in the form of most recent signing Kevin Wölbert from Germany.
He handled Armadale very well on his debut last Friday when Monarchs beat title challengers Birmingham, and he really impressed in the three weekend away matches, winning tough heats at both Workington and Newcastle.
The weather which has caused such havoc to the fixture list, also affected the Birmingham visit last Friday as it was abandoned after 12 heats. Monarchs led 38-34 and the result stands.
They then grabbed a draw in a long drawn out match at Workington on Saturday but Monarchs were less successful at Newcastle where they went down 54-38 and at Redcar where they lost 47-39 in another rain-affected match which was shown live on Sky.
As well as Lawson, Glasgow bring star men Shane Parker and James Grieves on Friday and there is no doubt that Monarchs’ home record is under threat.
Teams for Friday: Scotwaste Monarchs: Ryan Fisher, Max Dilger, Kevin Wölbert, Matthew Wethers (captain), Michal Rajkowski, Aaron Summers, Byron Bekker.
