AUGUST on Beecraigs Loch saw monsoon-like weather conditions as torrential rain fell.
The loch levels have been up and down like a yo-yo and at times quite coloured.
However, despite of the rain the fishing has been excellent and anglers have enjoyed some great top-of-the-water sport.
Fish have continued to be taken on the buzzer during the day and the top nymphs have been the Daiwl Bach, Hare’s Ear Nymph and various buzzers.
The most successful method was the washing-line technique with a Black Booby on the point.
Lure fishers have taken many fish with Goldhead Damsels and Black and Green-based lures being the best in the first two-feet of water.
Many limit baskets have been recorded and Fish of the Month goes to Robert Rintoul for his 9lb 7oz triploid Rainbow taken on a “Bob’s Pink Panther Cat” — a slimline faded pink cat tied with a pink marabou wing and tail and a body of the same pink marabou, ribbed with a fine silver wire.
Mr Rintoul wins for himself a £50 tackle voucher, courtesy of our sponsors Almond Cleaning Services of Livingston.
There are still a number of permits available for September and bookings should be made through the Park Centre by calling 015096 844516.
