Wrestling: Jeremi prepares to test his mettle

RON JEREMI admits he will fulfil a childhood dream when he steps between the ropes with a star from the WWE wrestling sky in Kevin Thorn writes Eric Mackinnon.

The giant American is coming to West Lothian’s own Scottish School of Wrestling (SSW) tomorrow (Friday) to take on local favourite Jeremi in the star match at the top of the bill in a show taking place at St Mary’s Primary School, Bathgate.

Jeremi is giving up a massive height and weight difference to Thorn but he has issued a warning to the American not to underestimate him.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to it and it is something I’ve always dreamed about doing.

“Everyone involved with the wrestling business would like the chance to prove themselves in the ring against guys like Kevin, who have been with the WWE, and I’m no different.

“Kevin is someone I have been a fan of even from his days on the WWE reality series ‘Tough Enough’. It will be a great experience to take him on in the ring.”

The fact Jeremi has had the chance to watch and study the American’s ring style on global TV may give him a slight advantage against the behemoth considering Thorn will never have laid eyes on the West Lothian grappler before.

Jeremi continued: “I am giving away a lot of height and weight difference to him and I expect he will underestimate me as people always do because of my size.

“I will have to use my quickness to my advantage and perhaps target his legs with Muay Thai-style kicks. I will be doing my very best to chop the big tree down.

“Hopefully we will get a good crowd in to support me and I’d like to rally the SSW troops to get behind us.”

Kevin Thorn will also be appearing at the Dreadnaught in Bathgate after the show where he will be available for photo opportunities with over-18s.

Also on the card is a much-anticipated 15-man over-the-top Royal Rumble, with the winner earning a shot at the prized SSW Worlds Title in December at Redemption.

Entrants confirmed so far include current champion Muzlem, Dark Angel, Kevin Brudaker, GI Joe, Tony Sensation, Chris Bang, Matt Starr, Ken Adams, Kid Fite, BT Gunn, Scott Renwick and Damien O'Conner.

Team Starr are confirmed as well with the fans’ favourites set to defend their tag team gold against the team of against BMW.

Another title up for grabs will be the SPWO UK title as new champ BT Gunn defends against high-flyer Falcon.

International star Kid Fite also returns to action for the first time since turning his back on the fans.

He will return against Chris Rampage, a popular youngster himself, who is working hard trying to carve out a reputation.
