Martial Arts: West Lothian siblings keep winning run in the family

SIBLINGS Ailsa and Blair Stryke showed winning certainly does run in the family.

Brother and sister were in excellent form when they recently competed at the Japan Karate Shotokan National Championships which were held in Grangemouth.

The duo who train at Bathgate Sports Centre brought back to West Lothian a gold and bronze for their efforts.

Ailsa, 17, retained her title winning gold for individual kata and Blair, 15, achieved bronze for individual fighting.

Ailsa now goes through to compete at the World Karate Federation (all styles under 21s) World Championships.

These are due to be held in Morocco in November.

Their instructors have been full of praise for the youngsters.

This has proved to be a very successful year for the Stryke duo and the youngsters are aiming to build on this platform as they stride to progress in their sport.
