Cheerleading: Three cheers as the Starbirds go for glory

WEST Lothian dance troop Starbirds Cheerleaders are in top form ahead of this month’s prestigious Scotcheer 2 event.

The Starbirds, originally founded by Cathy Bird, were taken over in August by Gillian Farrell and Elaine McLean - who boast more than a decade cheerleading experience.

Since taking over the reigns the girls have continued to progress superbly and the senior Starbirds squad took first place in their division with the youths finishing in second spot in their section.

The hard work and dedication everyone has put in has reaped dividends and Gillian and Elaine are very proud of the achievements.

They have also expressed their gratitude to all the parents for their continued support.

The Starbirds will also be launching their new team name — Silver Saints — at a specially arranged fundraising disco on Friday, November 27.

The seniors meet on Wednesday’s between 6.30 and 8pm in East Calder Church while the youths meet on the same night in the Scout Hall, East Calder.
