LIVINGSTON star ice skaters Sinead and John Kerr have long since tried to distance themselves from comparisons to the great Torville and Dean.
But now after the brother and sister partnership equalled the famous pair’s seven British Ice Dance Championships, the thorny issue has cropped up again.
Jayne Torville and Christopher Dean were world famous stars as they dominated the ice in their pomp but on the rink the Kerr’s are closing in and surpassing many of their records.
Sinead and John glided to their latest slice of glory at the weekend, earning marks more than 30 points above their nearest rivals in a field of six couples.
Proud mum Maeve Kerr was bursting with pride at their achievements.
She said: “We are very proud of them and they have done so well and who could have imagined how well they’d do when they started skating at Livingston Ice Rink all those years ago.”
Next year also promises to be another one to remember with the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games being held in February.
