Athletics: Lothian Running Club well represented at Borders Cross Country series

LOTHIAN Running Club were represented at both the third round of the Borders Cross Country series and the Edinburgh Parkrun at the weekend.

Four club members contested the third race in the Borders Cross Country Series at Dunbar on Sunday.

Highest-placed club finisher was Brian Turner in seventh place while Alistair Robertson came home in 22nd place which earned him third Junior.

In the female category Saran Jones placed ninth (94th overall) with Kate Kitchen 17th and 114th in the overall classification.

162 runners completed the course.

Elsewhere, Ross Milne made his Edinburgh parkrun debut on Saturday and covered the 5k course along the Cramond/Silvernowes waterfront in a good time of 15 minutes 32 seconds to finish in third place.

Mags Turnbull running in the FV50-54 category, bettered her personal best for the course by an amazing 78 seconds in finishing in 88th place in 25 minutes 10 seconds.

Another club athlete to set new figures for the course was 15-19 Junior Chris Rumbles who came home in 34th place in 19 minutes 13 seconds, which was 12 seconds quicker than his previous run.

Making up a quartet of club runners in the race was Ted Finch who crossed the finish line in 81st place in 23 minutes 55 seconds.

A total of 13 club members have now made appearances at Edinburgh parkruns.

A total of 145 runners completed the course on this occasion.
