West Lothian Artistic Roller Skating Club clinch massive haul of honours at tough contest

WEST Lothian Artistic Roller Skating Club are going to need to invest in a new trophy cabinet as their current one is creaking under the stress of a hugely successful competition.

A troop of pupils from the club were put through their paces by judges from the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating at the tournament at the end of November.

They had made the long journey from England to West Lothian to cast their eyes over the youngsters from the club and they weren’t disappointed.

At the end of the testing the Livingston-based club were handed a phenomenal 62 national grades, 12 advances grades and six national medal tests.

It was a superb return for the fledgling club which is one of only two artistic roller skating clubs in the whole of Scotland.

Coach Victoria Reid was understandably thrilled at the results her young skaters achieved.

She said: “I am tremendously proud of all my skaters, they all performed fantastically under immense pressure from being judged by national judges.

“This now means we can attend competitions in England and compete at a higher level.

“I must thank the judges Julia Patterson and Carole Mould for travelling all the way up from England, the parents who assisted in the running of the weekend and for their continued support, without which the club simply would not exist.

“Also to Inveralmond Community High School for accommodating our club and allowing us to use their superb new facilities and to Dean Community High School who came to our assistance allowing us to use their new hall for some last-minute training.”

WLARSC train at Inveralmond Community High School every Saturday from 11am-3pm.
