Cricket: Livingston season fixtures released

THE fixtures for the forthcoming cricket season have been confirmed with Livingston Cricket Club’s two sides gearing up to contest Division Three and Seven of the East of Scotland Cricket League respectively.

The club’s first XI will be aiming for title glory in Division Three while their second XI are four divisions below.

The season starts on May 1 with the first XI entertaining Haddington at home with the second XI on their travels to Peebles.

Both sides are eyeing promotion at the end of the season while both are also hopeful of a successful run in the ECSA and West Lothian Cup competitions — especially after winning the latter last season.

This year sees the club taking part in the Forth Cricket Union League with matches in a 30/30 format with fixtures taking place on Sunday afternoons.

As part of the club's preparations indoor nets sessions have been arranged for Sunday evenings between 7 and 9pm at Bathgate Academy Sports Hall with the first session this Sunday, February 7.

With an increase in fixtures this season the Club is looking to strengthen its playing squad and new playing members are being sought and will be made very welcome at the indoor nets.

The club are inviting both experienced cricket players and newcomers to the game to get in touch or simply pop along to the sessions.
