THE Monarchs need a good weekend to have a chance of making the semis in the Premier Trophy, starting with the visit of Workington to Armadale Stadium tomorrow night (Friday).
The Comets started their season by winning at Redcar but have since lost four in a row in the trophy, going down home and away to Berwick and Newcastle.
They have quite a young side backing up Armadale specialist Andre Compton and last year’s triple-trophy winner Chris Schramm, and certainly there is promise in their ranks – Danish under-21 rider Peter Kildemand has made a good start to his UK career.
They also have British lads Adam Roynon (back from serious injury) and locals Craig Cook and Richard Lawson who were amongst the best newcomers of 2009.
So it is a team which can improve and which might provide interesting racing at the Armadale Stadium tomorrow night.
Teams for Friday:
Scotwaste Monarchs: Ryan Fisher, Jozsef Tabaka, Kevin Wolbert, Matthew Wethers, Andrew Tully, Max Dilger, Kalle Katajisto.
Comets: Andre Compton, Richard Lawson, Chris Schramm, Peter Kildemand, Adam Roynon, Craig Cook, John Branney.
After Friday’s match Monarchs head for Workington (Saturday) and Newcastle (Sunday).
They could do with taking something from these matches though unfortunately will be without Kevin Wolbert for the latter match due to a Polish commitment.
