THE purple patch of medal-winning form for athletes of Lothian Running Club on the Highland Games circuit continued this week when Lauren Arbuckle (Addiewell) raced to victory in the Youth's 800 metres Handicap at a wet and windy Cupar Highland Games in Fife on Sunday.
Running from a handicap of 185 metres, Lauren was soon at the head of affairs and went on to stop the watch at two minutes 06.01 seconds.
The club's Hannah Stewart (Blackburn) was also in the prizes in fourth place after being caught right on the line for third.
Nicola Kellock (Livingston) made her Games debut in the Youth's 90 metres Handicap.
The 14-year-old won her heat before going on to finish in third place in the final.
Club runners have now been successful on the Games circuit for the past four weekends.
The season continues this Saturday with the Famous Alva Games.
Elsewhere, half a dozen Lothian Running Club members contested this weeks Edinburgh Parkrun.
Lana Turnbull, running the race for the 17th time, finished 58th overall and fifth female, and was also first home in the 15-19 age category.
Both Neal Drummond and Catherine Leggett recorded new personal best’s for the 5k course.
Results: 51st Lana Turnbull 21 minutes 08 seconds, 103rd Ian Leggett 23:53, 107th Ted Finch 24:03, 182nd Neal Drummond 31:29[PB], 185th Mike Turnbull 32:49, 197th Catherine Leggett 37:05].
At the Dunren Open Graded Meeting at the Linwood Sports Complex there was a new 1500 metres PB for Craig McDowell.
Craig finished in eighth place with a time of four minutes 13.51 seconds which was 0.36 of a second quicker than his previous best time.
Club duo David and Carol Mabon were in action in the Edinburgh running of the Healthy Working Lives Jogscotland series.
David covered the 5k Inverleith Park/Royal Botanic Gardens course in 20 minutes 59 seconds with Carol completing in 27 minutes 50 seconds.
Alex Agnew as he so often is, was the club's sole representative in this weeks two mile Transcendence race at the Meadows, Edinburgh. Alex finished in 33rd place overall and fourth MV50 in 13 minutes 22 seconds.
