THE Scotwaste Monarchs face another important league match against Berwick at Armadale Stadium tomorrow night — handing them an early chance of revenge.
They lost on their visit to Berwick last Saturday, a rather disappointing result, but one which was more than made up for with their stunning win at Newcastle a day later.
William Lawson has returned to the Monarchs’ team to compensate for the withdrawal of Tobias Busch, and he should certainly strengthen the tail.
Monarchs struggled at Berwick with only Ryan Fisher (16) and Matthew Wethers (13) scoring well.
Monarchs are currently nine points ahead at the top of the league but there is still a lot of work to do.
They race at Sheffield tonight (Thursday) and then return home to face the Bandits tomorrow night.
Berwick have often been poor visitors to Armadale but look much better equipped this time with 2009 Monarch Michal Rajkowski, Paul Clews and Lee Complin all being Armadale specialists.
They also have a new signing in Polish World Cup star Marcin Rempala.
Last Friday’s home match with King’s Lynn in the KO Cup was rained off, a heavy rain shower at 4pm being followed by another at 7pm ruling out any action.
Teams for Friday.
Scotwaste Monarchs: Ryan Fisher, rider replacement for Kevin Wolbert, Kalle Katajisto, Matthew Wethers, Andrew Tully, Arlo Bugeja, William Lawson.
Berwick Bandits: Adrian Rymel, Marcin Rempala, Paul Clews, Michal Makovsky, Lee Complin, Jade Mudgway, Michal Rajkowski.
Kevin Wolbert misses Friday’s home match as he will be on his way to Latvia for the second stage of the World Under-21 Championship.
Monarchs race on Sunday at Peterborough in the Premier League Fours and a big travelling support is expected to follow them south.
