West Lothian County Cricket club round-up

WEST LOTHIAN County First XI’s clash with Penicuik First XI in the SNCL Championship Division match was called off last weekend due to the heavy rainfall at Kirkhill.

And the County Second XI’s game at Peebles County First XI was also weather-affected, as play was abandoned with the home side 24 for 1 after 15 overs.

The County Third XI fared better against the elements when they hosted Dunfermline Wanderers at Boghall in the East League Division Six.

Dunfermline batted first, scoring 113 all out in 38 overs, and County struggled to make the runs target, losing cheap wickets.

However, Kevin Smith’s 40 steadied the ship before he was dismissed.

At the start of the 33rd over, the score was 98 for 9 with the last two-batsmen at the crease and things looking dire.

David Brown stepped forward and won the match by himself hitting the first two-balls for 6 and then the third ball was called a no ball, which was duly dispatched to the boundary for 4, taking the score to 115 for 9 as County held on for victory.

On Sunday, the County Sunday XI beat Edinburgh South Friendly XI by six wickets in a match at Boghall.
