LOTHIAN Running Club’s Chloe Cox produced a fine run to smash her Edinburgh Parkrun personal best at the weekend.
Her time of 18 minutes 14 seconds for the 5k course was 13 seconds quicker than her previous best.
This placed Chloe an excellent fifth overall and winner of the female category.
Paul Young finished 45th (21.33) while race debutant Ciaran Young crossed the finish line in 23.06 from a field of 208 runners.
Mother and daughter Mags and Lana Turnbull contested the Falkirk Parkrun with Lana finishing 19th overall and 3rd female in a field of 85 runners in 22.36.
Mags crossed the finish line 48th overall and 12th female – covering the 5k course in 27.47.
Thousands of runners were out on the streets of a sunny Glasgow on Sunday for the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run Half Marathon.
Among them were a handful of Lothian Running Club members, and one of them, Colin Partridge produced an excellent personal best of 78 minutes 38 seconds, which placed him among the high finishers in 27th place.
Making up the club’s representation were, No.532 Stephen Malcolm (93.55), No.575 Gerry McCafferty (94.24), No.952 Christine Milne (99.12 SB), No.1030 Paul Young (99.52), No.1626 Shona Young (1:44.56).
Jill , Alice and Iain Horsburgh were the club’s representatives at Sunday’s Blairgowrie Highland Games, and all three returned home with a prize.
Jill finished fourth in the Women’s Hill Race three miles/300 yards and later in the afternoon placed sixth in the 3200 metres Handicap.
Iain came home in fourth spot in both the 800m and 1600m youths’ handicaps.
Alice finished fifth in the latter, and also contested the 90m and 200m youths’ handicaps, but was eliminated in the heats.
David Bell was Lothian Running Club’s only representative in Saturday’s gruelling Ben Nevis Race.
On a damp and murky day on the Ben, David finished 374th of the 480 finishers in a time of two hours 47 minutes four seconds.
