A BATHGATE firefighter has out-muscled the competition to become British bodybuilding champion.
Gordon Adam, 28, won the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation Heavyweight category at the SECC in Glasgow earlier this month.
He then went on to beat off competition from the other category winners to claim the overall UK Natural Heavyweight Bodybuilding Championship.
Gordon (right) also won the Scottish Natural Bodybuilding Championships at the Perth Concert Hall in June in what is his first year competing.
His success has meant he will be joining the British team to compete in the world championships in Washington DC next month.
Gordon said: “I’ve been training for the last seven years but this was the first year I decided to give competing a shot, since I’d trained so much.
“To win the British title was beyond all my expectations. Just being in the finals was a dream come true.
“The level of competition was unbelievable. I went in to it again just hoping to get a place but I ended up winning.”
Before he joined the fire brigade, Gordon worked in a Glasgow gym and began bodybuilding.
He now trains six days a week and can bench press 165 kilos.
