BEECRAIGS anglers had great sport on the Loch during September with many limit baskets recorded.
The weather was quite good for angling with mainly westerly winds and scattered clouds although around the middle of the month there were days of strong to gale force winds. But this did not affect the fishing too much as the loch is well sheltered and surrounded by trees.
Falkirk anglers G. Adamson and R. Patterson fished the loch and were well rewarded with 10 rainbows and blues for 25lb 8oz on the Blob and the Cormorant. During the days there have been some tremendous rises to buzzers.
At times anglers got quite frustrated as the fish were being very selective.
Grangemouth angler Paul Howarth had the knack and took a five fish limit for 15lb 8oz on the buzzer and floating line in one and a half hours. E. Euan fished a size 18 nymph behind the island and came in with 5 for 12lb 8oz.
Ron Fox and Ian Pauley fished a four-hour session on the loch and weighed in six good rainbows for 16lb all taken on the floating line and Bibio C.D.C.
Greg Lockhart from Dunblane took a good rainbow of 6lb on the dancer.
Clubs have also had excellent results.
Eyewater A.C had eight boats and took 61 fish for 141lb 6oz.
Davie Dougall took his five-fish limit in 40 minutes on Daiwl Bach and a floating line.
The next day Ferry Flyfishers came in with 45 fish for 114lb 8oz for their six boats.
Angler A. Glasgow had the best basket with five fish for 13lb 10oz.
Mayfly A.C had five boats and took 41 fish for 105lb 4oz and S. Stanton had the best bag with five fish for 12lb 14oz on the dancer.
The loch is fishing very well at the moment although the fish are feeding a little bit deeper because of the cooler weather.
Permits are still available for October.
