West Lothian man in Spanish Duathlon

WEST Lothian runner and cyclist Angus Gallie combined both sports to compete for Great Britain in the World Duathlon Championships.

Angus narrowly missed out on a medal and came in fifth – 17 seconds off grabbing silverware at the event held in Gijon, Spain.

Angus, 55, is a member of both Linlithgow Athletic Club and West Lothian Clarion Cycling Club.

He said: “I have competed in both sports over a number of years and it’s only in the last two years that I decided to try the run/cycle/run multi-sport event – needless to say I was delighted to qualify for the GB team earlier in the year!

“I was extremely grateful for the support given to me by both clubs.

“The clubs are well established in the Linlithgow area and both make an immense contribution to the development of our future athletes and cyclists through their commitment to schoolchildren and youth development.”
