Whitburn wonder in double title success

WHITBURN motocross star Alexander Brown has been propelled onto the national stage after clinching two major titles.

The 11-year-old racer claimed the Red Bull Elite Youth title along with the British Youth Motocross.

And after winning the two big accolades, he has been handed a two-year sponsorship deal with Moto One.

Proud mum Joanne told the Courier: “He’s doing so well in the sport and he’s starting to realise his dream.

“It was great news finding out that he had been given the sponsorship, especially as he’s moving up from the 65ccs to 85ccs.

“They haven’t even seen him compete at the that level so they are showing a lot of faith in him.

“But he’s doing so well at the moment.”

The deal means the 11-year-old will rub shoulders with some of the sports biggest names around the circuit at a show this weekend.

Alexander was also handed a Scotland call-up last month, where he managed a remarkable four wins in five races, propelling the tartan team to second overall at a Cumbria-based event.

Joanne wanted to thank Whitdale Primary School for allowing Alexander time off to compete in the sport he loves.

Joanne said: “Without their support, he wouldn’t have this opportunity.”
