Double win for Lothian Running Club women

CHLOE Cox and Shona Young were the winners of the female races at Saturday's Edinburgh and Falkirk Parkruns with both recording new personal bests for the respective 5k courses.

In unseasonal but favourable conditions, Lothian Running Club had 14 runners in action at the two events with a handful recording new personal bests.

Meanwhile, four club members contested the Scottish 4k Cross-Country Championship Senior/Juinior Men’s race at a muddy Bellahouston Park.

First to finish the event for the local club was Max McNeil in 37th place overall and 14th Under-20 in a time of 13 minutes 42 seconds. Following Max home were 185th Ian Leggett [19.19], 197th Colin Banham [21.37], and 201st David Wardman [24.45].123 Ran.

A trio of club runners competed at different events at the weekend.

David Bathgate finished in 55th position of the 332 runners who contested the Strathaven ‘Run with the Wind’ 10k race. David’s finishing time was 41 minutes 16 seconds which was a new personal best.

Steven Laurie was in the Borders at Lauder for the first of seven races in the 2011/2012 Borders Cross-Country series, Steven was placed 33rd in a field of 186 in 31:02.

Ashley Toner contested the gruelling ‘Dumyat Dash Hill Race’ which started and finished in Menstrie and covered the 8.8k course with a climb of 550 metres in 1 hour 20 minutes 9 seconds.

This placed her 71st overall and 14th female.

Results of the Edinburgh Parkrun were as follows: 13th and 1st female Chloe Cox [17.54], 45th David Mabon [20.35], 59th and 6th female Leanne Webster [20.58], 124th Cliff Dicker [24.15], 127th Ted Finch [24.23], 184th and 44th female Carol Mabon [27.24], 243rd and 86th female Val Finch [36.10]. 284 Ran.

Falkirk Parkrun were as follows: 2nd Colin Meek [18.06], 19th Paul Young [21.26], 31st Martin Geig [23.32], 32nd and 1st female Shona Young [23.39], 59th and 7th female Mags Turnbull [26.09], 69th and 13th female Susan Bruce [27.30], 112th Mike Turnbull [35.22].
