THE Edinburgh Monarchs have been handed a bumper sponsorship deal with Scotwaste.
The announcement was made to their delighted fans at the annual dance by Scotwaste boss Stewart Melrose.
He revealed that an extra 25 per cent would be pumped into the club over the coming speedway season.
He told the crowd: “I’ve been told that when you make a speech you should get your audience on your side right away.
“And that’s why I am beginning by saying that we will be back as team sponsors in 2012.”
He added: “We know it has been a tough time for Monarchs recently but we are going to do our bit for the team by donating an extra amount of 25 per cent of our total sponsorship early in the winter.”
John Campbell of the Monarchs thanked Stewart for this generosity and was clearly boosted by this practical show of support.
The renewed deal means that Monarchs will now have had Scotwaste as their main sponsor for seven seasons, with the link being established in 2006.
Since then, the Armadale outfit have won two Premier League titles.
Several of the riders were overseas but Andrew Tully, Craig Cook and Matthew Wethers represented the team at the annual end of season dance.
With the season concluded just over a week ago and the conference in mid-November, there is not any signing news yet but Monarchs are expected to add to their squad.
