Karate Academy in medal success

WADO Karate Academy members took home a trophy haul from the European Championships.

Four members of the Dedridge-based club grabbed silverware at the European Wado Cup which was held in Meissen, Germany.

Hannah Wood clinched silver in the individual fighting and team kata while Kate Holligan was also second in the team kata and third in the individual section.

Courtney Dignan grabbed gold in the team fighting and silver in the individual fighting.

Robert Hinton rounded off a highly successful weekend for the West Lothian academy with a bronze in the team kata.

The medals go towards the 23 taken home by all members of the Scottish Karate Federation (SKF), an excellent total in a top fight competition.

With confidence sky-high, the team will now head to the Scottish Nationals which is being held at Meadowbank Stadium this weekend.

Aaron and Hannah Wood will be taking part in the national squad with Kate, Robert and Courtney will be battling to break into the ranks of the national team.
