THE conveyor belt at Livingston Rugby Club has continued to churn out emerging talent after an amazing ten players from the club were selected to represent the Edinburgh Chargers district teams at under 15 and under 16 level.
And last Sunday saw the five Under 16 Livingston players Ewan Naysmith, Dean Edwards, Jack Hall, Ben Meechan and Liam Black play their part in a balanced team performance against the West Borders side in Gala.
The Livvy boys contributed to a fine 12-19 victory, all the more remarkable as they trailed 12 -0 at one stage.
With three rounds of matches completed the Edinburgh Chargers under 16 team remain unbeaten having scored a total of 13 tries with their defensive line only breached on two occasions.
A further five under 15 players represented Edinburgh Chargers in a narrow defeat to their Selkirkshire counterparts but Douglas, McRae Ryan Stevenson, Connor Barton, Bror Spence and Cameron McLeary can be proud of the efforts in a closely fought encounter.
With the start of the Edinburgh and Borders league season fast approaching at under 15, under 16 and under 18 level Livingston Rugby Club would like to hear from any boys born in 1992, 1993 or 1994 that are interested in giving rugby a try. Whether you have rugby playing experience or not the club would like to hear from you.
Livingston Rugby Club currently runs ten youth teams with over 160 players from the micros at age 4 through to the under 18s representing the club each week. Boys and girls can play in the same team until the children go to high school.
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of the children the contact element of the game is slowly introduced over a number of years from the non contact version of the sport at age 4 through to the full contact version of our older age groups.
With reduced size pitches and smaller playing number required at primary school level there is a real emphasis on the players enjoyment and getting their hands on the ball making rugby a truly inclusive sport for all.
