Young Livvy return to their winning ways

LIVINGSTON Rugby Club’s under 16 team picked up a 79-17 away win over Haddington.

The Livvy boys were happy to return to league action after an 0-83 drubbing in the cup at the hands of Boroughmuir the previous week.

Livingston started brightly and Liam Black opened the Haddington defence up with a kick and chase that resulted in Ali Williamson touching down for the first try, that was duly converted by Black.

The game became a scrappy affair as Haddington began to get a foothold in the game and tries were traded to leave the half-time score 17-21 in Livingston’s favour.

With a strong wind at their backs the Livvy boys picked up the pace in the second-half.

A number of long range tries were scored as a result of excellent support play.

Livingston’s scored a total of 13 tries shared amongst Ali Williamson, Dean Edwards, Thomas Frow, Jack Hall, Keiran McVity, Kristjan Gamble, Liam Black, Cameron Miller.

With captain and prop forward Ben Meechan rounding of the scoring by pouncing on a short kick off and running 55 metres to touch down unchallenged under the posts it was certainly a better afternoon for the Livvy boys.

The under 15s fell to a heavy defeat in their fixture as their team was disrupted by a couple of injuries to key players but coaches Spence and Barton are happy with the boys work ethic.

Livvy’s new Youth Development Officer Craig Bolan is now up and running in the role working with primary and high school children as the club endeavour to increase participation in sport from the current 160 youth players.
