LIVINGSTON Rugby Club hosted a special festival for primary school children earlier this month to great success.
The event took place on Friday, November 14, for school children in the Deans High School cluster and was attended by more than 100 children from four schools who were split into 10 teams.
St John Ogilvies, Meldrum, Deans and Knightsridge had all took to the rugby field on the back of four weeks special coaching in school.
Carmondean also received the coaching but unfortunately were unable to attend the event.
The teams were split into two pools of five with each team playing four games of tag rugby.
This was followed by the top team from each pool and the second placed team from each pool playing against each other supported by all the other schools who watched from the stand.
All the children and staff had a fun morning and even the rain managed to stay off until the festival was finished.
The skill level on display was very high from all schools and the commitment of the players was a joy to watch.
The next festival will be on the December 5 when Primary schools from the West Calder cluster visit Almond Park to show off their tag rugby ability.
After school rugby is now up and running in most secondary schools.
There are training sessions at Deans on Monday, James Young and Whitburn on a Tuesday, St Margaret's on a Wednesday and West Calder on Thursdays.
