Furious Livingston board strongly deny the club is facing cash crisis

THE Livingston board has dismissed claims that the club are in danger of folding.

And the angry board members have slammed the series of rumours which have been dominating the sports pages over the past week claiming the club is facing debts.

It has been claimed that the Almondvale club are in serious financial trouble with HM Revenue and customs allegedly chasing unpaid taxes and dozens of other creditors also seeking payment for alleged unpaid bills.

Scottish Power have allegedly threatened to cut the electricity supply to the stadium in a move which would leave the club unable to host home matches.

Other reports suggest Hearts are owed cash for on-loan Callum Elliot and the club also face a ruling from FIFA to pay Blackburn Rovers a £43,000 sell-on fee for former-defender David McNamee.

But Lions board member Tommaso Angelini fiercely denied that the First Division outfit title hopefuls were in difficulty.

"There are no financial problems at the club," said Angelini in an interview with the Courier.

"We have a fantastic relationship with the Inland Revenue - we are making regular payments to them.

"Everything is positive about the club."

However, concerned Livi fans have demanded a showdown with the Italian owners.

Don Paul, Livi for Life Supporters’ Trust, said: “We just don’t know what is happening.

“We are trying our best to discover what is going on, but we are finding it very difficult to do so.”
