Influential quartet could be on their way
LEIGH GRIFFITHS, Murray Davidson, Dave Mackay and skipper Chris Innes – four players who played key roles on the field in a season where Livingston flirted with the possibility of winning the race to the SPL.
But the Lions could line up for pre-season without any of the quartet in their ranks after the transfer rumour merry-go-round started early this year.
Midfielder Davidson and full-back Mackay have both spoken to Dundee this week after a reported £75,000 bid was accepted for the pair.
Record-breaking goal-scorer Leigh Griffiths has caught the eye of clubs on both sides ofthe border and impressed Premiership side West Brom on a recent trial.
And club captain Chris Innes is said to be considering his options and could be set for a move abroad.
A switch across the Atlantic to the MLS is a real possibility as the veteran turned his back on a megabucks four-year deal from New York Red Bulls last summer.
It seems everything must go in the Almondvale sale this summer but the amount accepted for Davidson and Mackay from a team who could well prove to be Livi’s biggest title rivals seems especially low.
Mackay is an experienced and established First Division star and a player who attracted a bid in excess of £75,000 from Motherwell last year while Davidson has been one of the stars of the First Division this season.
Motherwell are reported to have had a £50,000 bid for the pair knocked back by chairman Angelo Massone but they are expected to come back with a higher offer.
But 21-year-old Davidson insists that so far Dundee are the only club he has spoken to.
He admitted: “A bid was accepted from Dundee but as yet I have still to make up my mind and I’m undecided on my future.
“I am aware of other interested clubs but the only one I have spoken to is Dundee.
“They haven’t given me a deadline to give them an answer but they do want to know as soon as possible.”
