Leigh Griffiths lights-up international front

LEIGH ‘Sparky’ Griffiths lived up to his nickname by lighting up the recent Scotland B international at Broadwood.

The Livingston teen was a late call-up to George Burley’s B squad for last week’s 3-0 win over Northern Ireland and he did not disappoint.

‘Sparky’ left an excellent impression on the Scots boss by turning his cameo substitute appearance into a show stealing one.

Scotland were 1-0 ahead in then match when Burley sent the 19-year-old into the fray.

And within minutes the Almondvale sensation had teed up fellow national team new boy George Boyd for a goal.

And then just a few minutes later Boyd returned the favour by playing Sparky in on goal where he finished with aplomb and showed Burley just why he was crowned PFA First Division Players Player of the Year recently.
