ANGELO Massone this week aimed a very public blast at the Livi For Life Supporters Trust while also revealing his confidence that the club coffers will be soon better off to the tune of £600,000.
In a statement and subsequent discussion with fans on the Livingston fans forum, the chairman aired his suspicions regarding the Trust who he claimed have been boycotting the club. The Italian revealed his anger and frustration in his lengthy post where he called for the Trust to resign immediately.
And he also revealed his belief he will win an upcoming court battle with former owner Pearse Flynn later this month.
In the statement on the LiviLions forum which was later posted on the club website Massone said: “The attack on the board, and particularly Angelo Massone, is clear and evident. I invite all supporters to take note of the following:
“On June 12 there will be an important legal hearing in which this board will seek the sum of approximately £600,000 from Pearse Flynn.
“In this specific case, the board claims to have paid £600,000 more than the undertaken obligations as per purchase agreement during the takeover.
“The board and Angelo Massone particularly agreed, although under no legal responsibility, to pay those aged creditors so Livingston FC would not disappear.
“It is clear, at this point, the personal interest of Livi Trust is: Support certain individuals and disadvantage Livingston FC by attacking the chairman personally. On the Trust Board, there are people who worked, and more importantly, gained with the old administration.”
Massone also singled out individual members of the Trust saying: “The spokesman of this Trust had invested money in the old Livingston FC and held press conferences to announce himself as a shareholder. That’s enough.
“I invite genuine supporters to marginalise these people, whose names are well known to you all, and to accept the fact they have only their personal interests at heart.
“Cash-flow problems are being addressed by the generosity of the board that has decided to invest much more than what was originally budgeted for, with the sole purpose to see Livingston FC survive.
“The Trust board has to resign immediately. All other supporters’ organisations will be more than welcome and will receive clarification regarding every aspect of Livingston FC.”
The post on the fans forum generated some mixed responses from supporters with one being threatened with legal action by the outspoken owner after angrily calling him a liar.
Other supporters appear ready to trust the chairman who extended an invitation to the concerned supporters to come to Almondvale to speak to him personally.
