Husband’s delighted with life at Livingston
LIVINGSTON loan star Stephen Husband has shone for the Lions in recent weeks and looks set to be handed a pivotal role in the club’s Third Division title challenge.
The midfielder not only provides his back-four with protection but knows instinctively when to get Livi on the front foot and has already become an important player for Gary Bollan's team.
Husband was lured down the M8 from Hearts on a season-long loan deal, where he was reunited with the man who handed him his football debut at the tender age of 16 — current youth team boss Brian Welsh.
“It was Brian who gave me my debut when we were at Cowdenbeath, so I knew him and spoke to him before the move.
“He told me it would be a good move and spoke a lot about the manager saying what a good guy he was so it was a move I was keen on.
“The fact it is close by to Edinburgh, so Hearts can keep an eye on me, is also important but the main motivation for going out on loan was to get first-team games.
“I’m 18 now and at an age where I need to be playing regularly to improve, gain experience and progress.
“I’m really enjoying my time at Livingston and the squad are a bunch of really good lads.”
Husband looks around the Almondvale dressing room and sees a group of players well equipped to win the Third Division and with it promotion.
He added: “I think the home games should take care of themselves with the quality of players that we have.”
