Youngsters on the ball
WEST LOTHIAN’S aspiring footballers had the chance to follow in the studmarks of the Livingston top-team with a two-day coaching session which was held at Almondvale.
Youngsters from all corners of the county and beyond descended upon the home of Livingston Football Club for the sessions and they were lucky enough to have the chance to get some tips on making it to the top from current Livi boss and ex-Rangers and Dundee United stopper Gary Bollan.
Alongside Bollan was youth team boss Brian Welsh and a handful of Livingston top-team stars who have progress from the youth team to the first-team.
Chris Malone, Kyle Jacobs and Andy Halliday joined in the sessions with the youngsters and found the going tough against many of the talented boys and girls taking part.
Leigh Robertson, Livingston FC’s Community Co-ordinator, said the days had been a tremendous success and also revealed plans for a cut-price week-long coaching sessions for the October holidays.
She said: “The September weekend sessions were a roaring success and we were delighted with how it went.
“We had an average of 50 kids come along and it was also nice to see so many girls come along to take part.
“We are doing it again in the October holidays and prices are just £25 for a whole week between October 19 and 23.
“Hopefully we will have another good turnout and there will be some more Livi players helping out.”
