Robbie Winters delighted at earning Dundee Scottish Cup clash

ROBBIE WINTERS admits the Livi camp have formed relationships with the Clyde players after five meetings in their epic Scottish Cup series.

But the Lions striker, who netted four goals across the games with two ruled out when the game was abandoned, admits it a relief for the Lions to have finally secured their place in the next round.

He said: “The tie has gone on and on for so long as far as both sets of players are concerned.

“However, it is good to get through to the next round after such a good performance.

“I think we were the better team throughout the whole tie so we deserved to get through and we look forward to meeting First Division leaders Dundee.

“Over the ties with Clyde we did creat a lot of chances but we had a golden spell of 20 minutes in the match at Almondvale where everything seemed to go into the net.

“It is good to get through but we have built up a bit of a relationship with the Clyde players having met them so often recently.

“Having been down to ten men for so long in the last game and managing to get a draw to take them back to Almondvale where we have an excellent record was a crucial result.

“Hopefully we can now look forward to the Dundee game.

“Dundee are a good side and I know a lot of their players but they are coming to face us at Almondvale where we are always confident.”

Robbie also insisted younger brother David, who has been denied by stunning saves, deflections and the woodwork in recent weeks will soon be banging in the goals again.

He added: “Davy ‘Boy’ is working hard and has a lot of ability and he is getting into lots of great positions but its just not going in for him.

“But I’m sure it won’t be long before he scores again and I would not be surprised if he overtakes me again in the goalscoring charts.”
