LIVINGSTON fans were handed an early Christmas present this week when star midfielder Keaghan Jacobs signed a new deal at the club.
Almondvale chiefs moved quickly to seal the new contract and the 20-year-old was delighted to commit his future to the club until the summer of 2012.
The news is sure to delight Livi fans after some impressive displays from the midfield maestro this season.
So far Jacobs has netted five times for the Lions in 17 appearances and manager Gary Bollan was pleased he had pledged his future to his side.
“I’m delighted that the board have acted so swiftly to secure Keaghan’s services,” the Livingston gaffer said.
“His performances have been simply outstanding since I returned to Almondvale.”
Keaghan joins Cameron McDonald, David Sinclair and younger brother Kyle in signing a new deal with the Third Division league leaders in recent weeks.
And an elated chief executive Ged Nixon told the Courier it showed the board’s ambition of nurturing and retaining quality academy-reared players.
He added: “We are delighted that one of the most promising young players at the club has committed his future to Livingston.
“He has shown great faith in the new board running the club and sees his immediate future being here.
“We see Keaghan, along with Cameron Macdonald, David Sinclair and Kyle, as being the bedrock of the team for the next few years and that is why we moved so quickly to sign him up on this deal.”
Keaghan, who picked up the young player of the month award for November, is known to have a number of admirers at other clubs across the country and the new deal is seen as a coup for the new Livingston board.
His stunning club form has also not gone unnoticed within the corridors of power at Hampden Park.
Although born in South Africa, Jacobs qualifies for Scotland under the new eligibility rules having lived and been schooled in Scotland for over five years.
Last month Scotland under-21 boss Billy Stark exclusively revealed to the Courier Jacobs was on the radar for the national set-up alongside some other youngsters at Almondvale.
