JONATHAN BROWN reckons he was in the wrong place at exactly the right time on Tuesday night after the right-back popped up on the edge of the six-yard box to fire a priceless winner against Elgin.
Livingston were struggling to find a way through a miserly Elgin rearguard until Brown, who had never scored a senior goal before, lashed home a back post winner to help the Lions claim another three precious league points.
He said: “I don’t know what I was actually doing up there to be honest but I saw Keaghan (Jacobs) on the ball and knowing he always comes in and crosses with his right I took a gamble and ran into the box.
“Luckily it broke for me and I’ve managed to put it in the back of the net for the goal.
“I was never really a prolific goalscorer but I used to be a winger when I was younger so I’ve always had an attacking side to my game.
“The gaffer has always told the full-backs to get forward as much as we can.
“I feel I could have done better with my possession play but going forward I felt I did well with and was happy with that.”
Brown made the move down the M8 from capital side Hearts on a season long loan in a bid to experience first-team football.
Since he left the Jambos though he has seen a spate of injuries hand his youth team mates first team chances in the SPL and he admits he is looking on with a touch of envy.
But the 19-year-old came to Livingston to win prizes and he is determined to head back to Tynecastle in the summer to show his pals a Third Division title medal.
“I would love to be in their position playing for Hearts but I’m a Livi player now and I just want to play well here and concentrate on doing well for Livingston,” he continued.
“I had a few word with Callum Elliot before I agreed the move and he spoke really well about the club and the people here so it was a no-brainer then as he really sold me on the club.
“It would be brilliant to head back in the summer with a title medal to show the boys and hopefully we can do that.”
