Robbie Winters shrugs of Shire cheat claims insisting he was fouled

ROBBIE WINTERS has shrugged off the controversy of the weekend insisting he did nothing wrong.

The Livingston striker was disappointed to be labelled a cheat by some of the home support after he was stopped on route to goal by opposition captain Michael Bolochoweckyj who was shown a second yellow card and subsequently sent off.

Winters said: “I actually don't know if he caught me. I went by a couple of players before him then I knocked the ball past him and tried to get round him.

“I felt something hit me so I fell. I’m not going to stand there and let him half me in two. My intention was to get round him and get the ball back like I had with two players before.

“I don’t know how it all erupted after that with people shouting it was a dive. That was just silly and I got a bit of stick towards the end.”

Winters was instrumental in Livingston’s 2-0 win over East Stirlingshire as he had a hand in the opener and headed the second home himself.

And the 35-year-old admitted it was a crucial win against a side who look like posing the biggest threat to Livingston’s title ambitions.

“It was a vital goal which helped settle us down and allowed us to pass the ball around,” admitted Winters.

“We’re happy with the result against a side who were confident after winning eight games in a row and it opens up a wee gap for us at the top although they still have two games in hand.

“There is still a long way to go and I think there are seven matches next month but right now we are happy to have the points on the board and we’ll see where we are at the end of the season.

“Our main aim is to get back up the division’s which is what we are trying to do till the end of the season.”
