Livingston chairman Gordon McDougall unhappy with SFA decision to act on Winters
GORDON McDOUGALL has revealed his dismay at the SFA’s disciplinary process after Livingston received a letter from the governing body alleging Robbie Winters had ‘committed an act of simulation’ in a top-of-the-table clash last month which contributed to an opposition player being sent off.
The letter refers to an incident in a match at Ochilview in February when Winters went down under a challenge from East Stirlingshire skipper Michael Bolochoweckyj.
The Shire stopper was shown a second yellow card (pictured) and subsequently sent off but now, four weeks later, the ex-Scotland cap could be charged with simulation.
And McDougall reckons the whole scenario has raised a host of questions.
He said: “We are disappointed with this situation and have responded to the SFA with several pertinent questions.
“There are thousands of scenarios in football and how many times has a situation like this happened in the lower leagues of the SFL?
“It is inconsistent and we feel aggrieved and all we ask for is a level playing field.
“The review panel looked at the incident last week and have referred it to the disciplinary committee, but what I want to know is who authorised the review panel to look at it in the first place?”
