Marc McNulty gutted at Livi Youth Cup exit

MARC McNULTY led the line superbly for Livingston in their Scottish Youth Cup semi-final at Parkhead, but he couldn’t find a way through the Hoops rearguard.

On a night when the young Lions stood tall against the cream of the Celtic junior crop, McNulty was a constant danger for the young underdogs.

Chances were few and far between at both ends in the match though and the 17-year-old admits losing to the Hoops youngsters was even harder to take considering Livingston keeper Darren Jamieson didn’t have a save of note to make throughout the entire match.

He said: “It is disappointing to go out of the cup, as the boys gave their all.

“It was hard at the start of the match to get into the game but in the second half especially, I felt we were the better side.

“We got the ball down well and passed it around but we could only manage to create a few half-chances.

“We had high expectations of ourselves and we all believed we could come to Celtic Park and get a good result and then look forward to the final.

“But we lost, so we have to take that on and move forward, as we still have the League Cup to play in and hopefully we can now go on and win that.

“We’ve won the league comfortably and it would be great to make that a double with the League Cup.

“Apart from the goal we lost, our keeper didn’t have a save to make, so it is hard to lose when you consider that.”
