LIVINGSTON super skipper Liam Fox punched the air with delight on Saturday after finally getting his hands on the prized Third Division title trophy.
Fox led the rejuvenated Lions to title glory less than a year after the club almost slipped into liquidation and were demoted two divisions by the Scottish Football League.
And Fox who has sparkled at the heart of the Livi midfield this season, scoring nine-goals and earning a Player of the Year nomination, was beaming after the match.
He said: “It was a great feeling to lift the trophy and it has been something we’ve all been looking forward to since we clinched it a few weeks ago against Berwick.
“It is a great day, all the boys are buzzing, and it was good to finally get our hands on the trophy.
“The best team always wins the league and I think we’ve proved we were far and away the best team in the league.
“There is no question our win at Ochilview over East Stirling in February was a massive game for the club this season.
“There have been a lot of shenanigans said about that match and a lot of things blown out of proportion.
“But if East Stirling are honest, we were 1-0 up when they had a man sent off in the incident with Robbie Winters and they weren’t really in the game.
“They can say the sending-off changed the course of the game but we know it didn’t and they then had the chance two weeks later to beat us here at Almondvale but they couldn’t get near us again so that summed it up.”
