Talbot joy at Lions return after inking deal until the end of the season

JASON TALBOT sealed his return to Livingston this week and admitted he had never wanted to leave the club.

After two successful seasons in West Lothian, the swashbuckling left-back looked to be on his way out of Almondvale in the summer after his contract expired, leaving him free to talk to other clubs.

Talbot played a trial match with First Division Dundee and spent some time with his family in England but this week he was back with the club he has grown to love where he put pen to paper on a deal until the season.

He said: “I’m delighted my future has finally been sorted, as it has dragged on a bit over the summer.

“I’ve been back home in England and it was nice to see my family but not having a club was a concern.

“There has been interest from elsewhere but I’m just glad it’s all sorted and I'm back here at Livi.”

It looked for most of the summer break as if Talbot had played his final match for Livi and he confesses he felt the same, admitting to bittersweet emotions on the day the Lions lifted the Third Division trophy.

He added: “I was a little bit disappointed during the last game of the season on the day we lifted the Third Division title.

“It was difficult for me and I had known for a couple of weeks that things may not work out.

“It was a great feeling to have won the league and be presented with the trophy but I was worried about what was going to happen to me as well.

“I enjoyed my two-years up here with Livingston and I never wanted to leave in the first place.

“It’s great to be back and the boys, the management staff and Ged (Nixon) and Gordon (McDougall) have been amazing and I couldn’t ask to be at a better club.”
