David Sinclair eyeing maximum points from two forthcoming home matches

David Sinclair

DAVID SINCLAIR has been slogging it out on the training field after his mates have gone home to aid his hopes of hitting the net this season.

The Livingston midfielder has forced his way from being a promising prospect to an established top-team star and he has admitted his cause has been helped by working hard in training.

Sinky is also fast earning a reputation as the set-piece specialist. And again he puts this down to practice on the training ground.

He said: “I’ve been getting more confident every week and in the past few games I’ve been moving further forward and hopefully I can add a few goals to my game. My set-pieces weren’t too good last season so it was something I wanted to work hard to improve this year.

“I’ve been working specifically on them and I practice them after training sometimes too.

“I’m really enjoying my season so far and I’ve been playing week-in, week-out which has been great.”

Livingston slumped to their first league defeat of the season at Somerset Park last time out which saw them relinquish top-spot to Brechin City.

But Sinclair reckons Livi will reclaim league leadership if they make the most of home advantage over the next two weekends.

He continued: “We have two home games in a row now starting with Stenhousemuir on Saturday so hopefully we can pick up six points and get back to the top of the league.

“The first-half at Somerset Park against Ayr I thought we played really well but we gave a couple of silly goals away which cost us.

“It was disappointing to lose as it was our first league defeat and every team wants to go as long as they can without losing.

“We started the season well but there are a lot of good teams in the league so it hasn’t been easy.

“And we are seen as a scalp to a lot of sides who want to come out and beat us.

“We have had a few disappointing results recently but hopefully we can kick on and win a few games again.

“We’ve had a wee break there for the international break and now we just have to pick ourselves up and get on with things again.

“Hopefully it was a wee break we needed to spur us on again.

“There is a lot of belief in the changing room and the boys believe on our day, when we play football, we can beat anyone in this division.

“There is a lot of competition for places here which is good to have and we have a good balance of experienced players and young lads too.”
